Spanish indie studio Crossbros released a new gameplay trailer for Heroes of Anirea on June 5 and opened the project’s Kickstarter pre-campaign page the same day. The game is a tactical JRPG roguelite built in handcrafted pixel art, and the campaign itself has no launch date yet. For now, backers can follow the page to get notified the moment it goes live.

What the New Trailer Shows

The trailer is mostly a progress report. Crossbros has been documenting development through devlogs, and this video highlights how far the visuals and interface have come since the last update. The combat on display is squad-based, with each hero filling a distinct role through a unique skill set, the kind of role clarity that defines the best strategy RPGs.

The roguelite layer wraps around that combat. Players assemble a party from a roster of more than 20 heroes, and the decisions made before each run, who goes, what they carry, what the plan is, are meant to weigh as heavily as anything that happens in battle.

Release Plans and Where to See It in Person

According to GoNintendo, Crossbros is aiming for a 2027 launch on Steam and Steam Deck, with Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 versions to follow. A Steam page is already live for wishlists.

The studio also booked two public demos in Spain. Heroes of Anirea will be playable at CYL Games Show in Zamora on June 6 and 7, then at Guadalindie in Málaga on July 3 and 4, with the developers on hand at both.

Why the Pre-Campaign Matters

For a small studio, the notification list is the campaign. Kickstarter’s algorithm rewards a strong first 48 hours, so projects that arrive with followers banked tend to fund. It’s the same pre-launch playbook Soverain: An Eternal Legend ran this spring, and Crownbreakers before it. 2026 is shaping up as a crowded, healthy year for crowdfunded tactics.

If the campaign hits when the studio hopes, Heroes of Anirea slots into a 2027 calendar that already looks generous to fans of new turn-based releases. StrategyGame will track the campaign from the news desk here on Strategygame.org when it goes live.
