Two decks will carry you from Arena 4 to Arena 19. Run Hog Rider cycle from the moment the Hog becomes available in Builder’s Workshop at 1,300 trophies, then decide between that and Miner Poison control once Miner arrives in Electro Valley at 3,400. Everything in between is the same deck with better support cards slotted into it.
Updated September 2026. Checked against Season 87 and the balance patch Supercell shipped on September 8, with every card number below taken from the official balance notes.
Any guide promising the best decks for each arena Clash Royale throws at you eventually hits the same wall. There are 32 arenas and about six archetypes worth playing, and no new cards arrive after Arena 18. So this is organized around the arenas that actually change your hand, and it stops where the card pool stops.
Arena Numbers Moved in December 2025
If a guide tells you Arena 4 is Barbarian Bowl, it was written before December 2025 and you should close it. Spell Valley is Arena 4 now, at 1,000 trophies. Barbarian Bowl slid down to Arena 3 at 600.
The rework reshuffled the early road and extended the top of it. P.E.K.K.A’s Playhouse is Arena 6 at 1,600, Royal Arena is Arena 7 at 2,000, and the road now climbs to Spirit Square at 13,500 against a 14,000 cap. Supercell’s December 2025 update notes have the full reordering.
Here is the part that decides how this guide is shaped. Every card in the game is available to you by Arena 18, Silent Sanctuary, at 6,500 trophies. Arena 19, Dragon Spa, adds nothing new. Past that point you are drafting from the same pool as the top 200, so arena-specific advice stops being a real category.

Arena 4 and 5: Spell Valley and Builder’s Workshop
Play Giant with Wizard and a Bomb Tower at Arena 4, then rebuild around Hog Rider the hour you cross 1,300 trophies. That is the entire plan for these two arenas.
Spell Valley hands you Wizard, Inferno Tower, Bomb Tower, Fire Spirit, Electro Spirit and Skeleton Dragons at 1,000 trophies. That is the first point where you own a real answer to a tank instead of a pile of Barbarians and hope. Builder’s Workshop follows at 1,300 with Hog Rider, Rocket, Zap, Bats, Mortar and Flying Machine.
Hog Rider is the most important card on the early road by a wide margin. It closes games on its own at low card levels, and it is a Rare, so leveling it costs a fraction of what a Legendary would. Build toward the Hog rather than around whichever Legendary a chest happened to give you.
The fair criticism of this band is that most advice about it is two reworks out of date. Wizard’s damage went from 281 to 304 on September 8 in exchange for a slower first swing, which is now enough to delete Archers or Firecracker in one hit. He is a better card than the guides calling him a trap suggest, and if the trade math there is unfamiliar, the elixir math behind deck roles is the thing to read before your next push.
Arena 6: P.E.K.K.A’s Playhouse
The best arena 6 clash royale decks are Hog Rider cycle lists with Goblin Barrel added as a second threat. Nothing else this arena offers beats that, including the card it is named after.
At 1,600 trophies you gain P.E.K.K.A, Baby Dragon, Witch, Skeleton Army, Guards and Goblin Barrel. Goblin Barrel is the one that changes games. It gives a Hog deck a second way to threaten a tower, and it collects free crowns from every opponent who has only learned to defend the lane in front of them. That dual-threat pressure is the same reason it is a staple in 2v2 deck pairings.
P.E.K.K.A is the trap. Seven elixir for a ground-only troop is a miserable rate at this level, where half your opponents have not built a deck yet and will simply walk around her. Skeleton Army is the better seven elixir, split across two cards you can actually cycle.
Arena 7: Royal Arena
The best arena 7 clash royale decks are Hog cycle and Royal Giant beatdown, and at 2,000 trophies the Royal Giant is honestly the stronger of the two. Most people do not enjoy hearing that.
Royal Arena adds Royal Giant, Prince, Dark Prince, Balloon, Three Musketeers, Royal Hogs and Royal Recruits. Royal Giant wins here because beating it requires an early Inferno Tower or a supported Mini P.E.K.K.A, which in turn requires a built deck and a player who recognizes the matchup. At 2,000 trophies, neither is a safe assumption.
The criticism is that it teaches you nothing. Royal Giant stops working around Arena 11, when Inferno Dragon and Electro Wizard turn up in every third deck, and you will have to learn a real deck then anyway. Veterans make the same complaint about crutch openings in our real-time strategy guides, and it lands the same way here. Balloon is the card from this arena with a future.
Arena 8 and 9: Frozen Peak and Jungle Arena
Add Ice Spirit and Ice Golem to your Hog deck at Arena 8, then Barbarian Barrel or Poison at Arena 9. At that point you are running a recognizable version of the deck the top of the ladder runs.
Frozen Peak at 2,300 brings Ice Spirit, Ice Golem, Giant Snowball, Freeze, Lightning, Battle Healer and Giant Skeleton. Jungle Arena at 2,600 adds Goblin Gang, Dart Goblin, Goblin Giant, Poison, Barbarian Barrel and Skeleton Barrel. Both are cheap support cards rather than new win conditions, which is exactly what a Hog deck wants.
Two current warnings. Ice Golem lost 7 percent of its hitpoints on September 8, down to 1228, though its slow now runs 2.5 seconds instead of 2, so it is still worth the two elixir. Freeze lost half a second and is a card to skip at this level, because it only pays off against an opponent whose hand you can already read.
The Spirits also changed in August and plenty of guides still have it wrong. They no longer connect to Crown Towers on their own, so a Spirit is a distraction and a reset now, never a chip-damage plan. Their combined use rate in the top 200 sat at 53 percent before the nerf, which tells you how many deck lists it quietly broke, including plenty still being passed around for competitive mobile ladders.

Arena 10: Hog Mountain and a Second Evolution Slot
The best decks arena 10 clash royale players settle into are Hog cycle with Musketeer, Cannon and Skeletons, and this is the arena where that list finally exists in full. Hog Mountain at 3,000 trophies supplies Tesla, Minion Horde, Elite Barbarians, Hunter, X-Bow and Golem.
The cards are not the real reward. Your second Evolution slot opens at 3,000 trophies, and Evolutions decide more matches than deck choice does from here to the top leagues. Spend it on a card you play every single game rather than the most exciting one you own, because an Evolution you cycle twice a match beats one you see in half your games. They have been reshaping ladder since Princess Evolution landed in June.
Elite Barbarians are this arena’s trap, and their Evolution was trimmed on September 8, with spear range pulled in half a tile at both ends, to a 3 to 4.5 tile band, and Rage duration dropped from 2.5 seconds to 2. They still bully anyone who panics. They still lose to a Skeleton Army and a Valkyrie, which every competent opponent from here on is carrying.
Arena 11 Through 14: Electro Valley to Serenity Peak
Pick your permanent archetype in this stretch. Miner arrives at Arena 11, Graveyard at Arena 12, Lava Hound at Arena 13 and Night Witch at Arena 14, so every major win condition in the game is in your hands by 5,000 trophies.
Electro Valley at 3,400 is the one that matters most, because it brings Miner, Mega Knight, Sparky, Ram Rider, Inferno Dragon, Electro Wizard, Princess and The Log all at once. Miner plus Poison is the control deck worth committing to, because the Miner is the only win condition in the game that walks under a defensive building instead of around it.
Mega Knight is the card everyone here runs and almost nobody plays correctly. He is a defensive answer that happens to counter-push, and leading with him into a built deck is how players spend three months parked at 3,800 trophies. Miner Poison is the better deck and it will still cost you fifty losses before it starts paying, which is more patience than most mobile strategy games ask of a free player.
Arena 15: Miner’s Mine and Your First Champion
Your first Champion slot opens at 5,000 trophies, and the best arena 15 decks clash royale hands you are the ones that leave it empty for a while. Tornado is the real prize of this arena, not a Champion.
Miner’s Mine adds Tornado, Elixir Collector, Mirror, Clone, Cannon Cart, Mother Witch, Fisherman, Void, Goblin Machine and Spirit Empress. Tornado turns a serviceable defense into a good one, pulls troops into your King Tower to wake it up, and fits almost every archetype. Spirit Empress also gained 4 percent damage this month, up to 320, which makes her a genuine six-elixir option rather than a curiosity.
Champions changed in August in a way that is easy to miss. Every Champion and Hero ability is single-use per deployment now, with Boss Bandit the only exception, so the old habit of firing an ability early and waiting out a cooldown is gone. One press decides the trade. Check your cards against the current live build before you commit an upgrade, and expect the same card economy across Supercell’s base-building siblings.
Arena 16 Through 19: Champions, Then Nothing New
The collection closes at Arena 18. Executioner’s Kitchen at 5,500 brings Skeleton King and Golden Knight, Royal Crypt at 6,000 brings Archer Queen, Mighty Miner and Boss Bandit, and Silent Sanctuary at 6,500 finishes the set with Monk, Little Prince and Goblinstein.
Dragon Spa, Arena 19, sits at 7,000 trophies and gives you nothing. That is not a complaint about the design. It means that from 6,500 trophies upward, the games you lose are about piloting and card levels rather than about what you were allowed to put in the deck, which is a much better problem to have.
So deck advice above Arena 18 is simply meta advice with a trophy number attached. Our breakdown of the five archetypes carrying Season 87 has the full lists and the swaps, and tournament results on Liquipedia are where you watch those archetypes get solved in real time.
Picking the Best Deck for Your Arena
Let the arena pick for you, then stop switching. Below 1,300 trophies, play Giant and Wizard because you have nothing better. From 1,300 to 3,400, play Hog Rider and bolt on each support card as it arrives. Above 3,400, choose Hog cycle or Miner Poison by temperament and give it two hundred matches before you judge it.
The expensive mistake on this road is rebuilding from scratch every time a new arena appears. Card levels beat card choice everywhere below the top leagues, so eight cards you have leveled will beat the theoretically superior deck you assembled this afternoon out of fresh Commons. Our guides library keeps arriving at that same conclusion across very different games.

If the climb itself has gone stale rather than your deck, that is a different problem, and there are games that scratch the same itch without a card-level treadmill underneath them. We re-check this page on Strategygame.org after every balance patch, and everything else we play sits in the full rankings.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which arena do you get all the cards in Clash Royale?
Arena 18, Silent Sanctuary, at 6,500 trophies. It adds the last three Champions, Monk, Little Prince and Goblinstein, and completes the collection. Arena 19 and everything above it add no new cards at all, so deck choice past 6,500 trophies is about the meta rather than about access.
Is Arena 4 still Barbarian Bowl in Clash Royale?
No. The December 2025 Trophy Road rework moved Barbarian Bowl down to Arena 3 at 600 trophies, and Spell Valley is now Arena 4 at 1,000. Any deck guide that still calls Arena 4 Barbarian Bowl is at least a year out of date, which usually means its card advice is too.
What is the best free-to-play deck for climbing arenas?
Hog Rider, Musketeer, Cannon, Skeletons, Ice Spirit, Ice Golem, Fireball and The Log or Arrows. Everything there except one spell is Common or Rare, so your upgrade currency goes much further. Card level decides more matches than rarity below the top leagues, and a maxed Common beats an underleveled Legendary nearly every time.
Do you need a Champion to get past Arena 15?
No. Champions are strong but they cost a deck slot and a lot of upgrade currency, and since August each ability fires only once per deployment. A leveled Hog cycle or Miner Poison list with no Champion will climb past 5,000 trophies comfortably. Fill the slot when you have a Champion you have actually practiced.
What is the highest arena in Clash Royale?
Spirit Square, Arena 32, which opens at 13,500 trophies against a Trophy Road cap of 14,000. Above that the game moves into the Seasonal Trophy Road and Ranked, so there are no further numbered arenas to chase.
